As co-owner of Sparket GameDev, this was a test of our game "Just Keep Running!" on Roblox. All documentation can be seen on the Github. Sparket GameDev is a professional Roblox developer network and game making group. We have 50+ members, 1 indie studio partnership, and 2 published Roblox titles currently, including "Just Keep Running!"
Facilitate a playtest session of the Roblox game "Just Keep Running" within the Roblox QA community "QA Central" and set up a ticket triage system in Github using the results. The playtest goals were to understand the satisfaction of the core game play loop of the levels, and uncover any major progression blockers for players.
I requested a playtest in QA Central through their Discord request system. During the vetting process, I connected with their staff and relayed information to the organization team on what needed to be added ingame for the test such as debugs and small tweaks to the mechanics.
After the test was approved, I facilitated the test of 13 testers for an hour and a half long playtest ingame. I supplied the debugs and feedback criteria for the playtest and answered questions and liaison with the developer during the test. Bugs and feedback were documented in the Discord playtest thread.
After the test, I set up a repository for "Just Keep Running" to document the findings from the test in the Issues tracker for the developer.
The approach was able to generate 55 issues in github as actionable improvement points for the developer
Using the Roblox community for the playtest generated for the week:
190% increase in DAU
194% increase in New Users
97.9% increase in average session time
The whole process took ~2 work days to complete:
~5 hours total were spent working with QA Central & the dev for test prep
~3 hours total were spent setting up and facilitating the playtest
~ 5 hours were spent setting up Github, analyzing the findings and issue reporting
The game maintained its 100% upvote status and had an influx in community engagement
